Are you considering to buy an electric car?
Here you can find everything you have to know about electric driving.
Electric driving is becoming more and more attractive. The vehicles are getting cheaper, the action radius is increasing and there is more and more choice. The supply of second-hand electric cars is growing. The purchase prices are getting lower, but are still well above ‘traditional’ cars. The fixed expenses, however, of an electric car are much lower than a gasoline or diesel car. For example, you do not have to pay road tax anymore.
The price of an electric car says something about the action radius of the car. In general: the more expensive the car, the larger the range.
You have to charge an electric car, and that can take some getting used to. The most electric cars will never go to a petrol station again. Most people charge their electric car at home or at work. In that case, it is not such a big problem that charging takes a bit longer. When you are working or sleeping, your car has plenty of time to charge.
The charging time of your car depends on the size of the battery and the capacity of the charging station.
For example, your car has a 40 kWh battery, and the charging station a power of 11 kWh. In this case, it takes a little under four hours to completely charge the battery.
Quick charging is also an option, if your car is equipped for it. Whether or not you can quick charge your car is also something to pay attention to when purchasing an electric car.
You can charge your electric car at home. Just plug the provided plug in an outside electrical outlet, which charges about 4 times as slow as charging at a special charging station. If you have an electric car, you can opt to purchase your own charging station, which also gives immediate insight in the charging costs.
Multiple types of charging stations with various capacities are available. Have your dealer inform you about the possibilities.
To charge, you always require a charging pass. Make sure you have a charging pass from a provider with the most extensive network. Elec2Go has such a pass, and you can request it for free.
